Celebrating the old and pushing forward the new.
Don’t get me wrong working with unlimited colours and photography for packaging is fun but playing to the strengths of letterpress is a whole other thing. Limited colours (or more considered?) and line weight and grip allowance to consider it’s been a great privilege to produce a number of pieces of letterpress packaging for Archivist under my role as Head of Design.
The two projects featured here are both single colour letterpress work with the candle packaging then being gold foiled at a litho-printers. With the printing area being more than A4 both designs were printed on the cylinder and then cut and creased in-house.
The soap packaging is working with an artist’s elephant stamp that I made into a repeat pattern and added the typographic details. The candle packaging marries the love of printing by Archivist and their playful nature, with a nod to more vintage, American packaging.
Created and brought to market for Archivist under my role as Head of Design.
